Renaissance Hair and Nail Design is located on California Street in down- town Ventura in a charming, historic, Victorian cottage built in the late 1800.   Modeled after the prestigious Cunnane Group of 4th generation builders and contractors, it has the quality and design that their family has been awarded for and has been reflected in their work, since 1884.

Petra C. C. Weule Lindley, owner and operator, relocated her business here a little over a year ago after a fire tragically burned down her former shop.  Making lemonade out of lemons, Petra found this cozy parlor and put her own finishing touches into it.  She is definitely a “self proclaimed Martha McGiver”, as one of her clients has quoted.

Petra started in the salon business in New York 35 years ago.  In 1994 she moved to Ventura and worked as an independent contractor for a year before owning her own salon.  She says , “customer satisfaction, like spending quality time with my clients”,  is most important to her.  It’s not unusual to see patrons lounging and visiting together, at the same she gives her undivided attention to a client in her chair.  Her effortless style and humor makes all feel welcome and entertained!

Kristi N., a client of 10 years,  is quoted as saying:

“…..The place is enchanting, from the red antique barber chairs in the parlor to Alice’s garden in the back;  its just a pleasure to be there..Petra.. is a joy to be with…her comedy is a kin to Fran Dresher meets Dennis Miller..she is great at what she does..she goes the extra mile…She is joined at the new location by the lovely and charming Lori..she uses great products that give a long lasting  manicure.”

Petra’s talents are in hair cutting, perming, coloring and up-do’s.  She specializes in Enjoy Color and Keratin treatments.  The salon also offers a variety of haircare products, and if, they don’t have what your looking for they will gladly try to get it for you!  All of her prices are fair and competitive which is an assurance of her success as a small business owner.

Pedicures, manicures,  and permanent make-up are offered by Lori Gonzales.  Believing that “sterilization is a must”, Lori uses a disposable tub for her pedicures to keep conditions sanitary between clients.  Her nail mediums are:  gel overlays, silk, and acrylics; plus Minks, which is like wallpaper for your nails, it comes in a lavish assortment of eye catching designs that really lasts!   Her partnership with Petra has complimented the business.

The Renaissance has built it’s reputation on a referral basis and welcomes all walk-ins!

Petra has been cutting my hair, coloring, highlighting, etc., since she arrived in Ventura County in 1994. Needless to say, her excellent skills have kept me as a loyal customer and good friend ever since. The fire that destroyed her shop at the beach and family matters of mine, took us on our separate ways. However, when she “landed” at her new location, it never occurred to me not to pick up where we left off. It’s always a pleasure to go to her shop and an enjoyable time spent along with excellent quality service. In case anyone is wondering why I mentioned it never occurred to me not to pick up where we left off..well, I drive from Whittier now and it’s worth it.

I was in Ventura for work last week, after arriving from Switzerland and stumbled upon Petra’s gorgeous location. She cordially invited me in on a Sunday because she happened to be in the shop. Her super personality and creative talent were much appreciated and the haircut makes me feel ten years younger! Kudos to you Petra and I hope to stay in touch!
