Ventura Bike Depot

Ventura Bike Depot has gained a reputation among local bike shops as the expert in renting high-end bikes.  Owner, president, Shelley Sund has been in this business since 1984.  Her notoriety began here after being the first to launch the festive Italian quadricycles upon the Santa Barbara Boardwalk from her shop called Cycles 4 Rent.   Shelley started a dozen rental business locations after that.  In 2003, she converted one of these into a full service bike store and now says, “I work smarter, not harder”.

Ventura Bike Depot gives you personalized attention for all of your biking needs including:  rentals, repairs, tune ups, trade- ins,  and building your bike from scratch with a wide variety of fun bike accessories.  Guided tours are available to take groups on a downhill tour from Ojai’s back country to the ocean.  Rentals include high-end racing and mountain bikes, to beach cruisers perfect for gliding  along the Ventura Beach Path, or for the Sunset Ride beginning at the Depot.  Specialized road and mountain high-end models are available for rent for customers that prefer not to insure their personal hybrid for a plane ride coast to coast.

By appointment only, Ventura Bike Depot will accommodate up the 13 people on the infamous occasional Sulfur Mountain Downhill Bicycle Tour.  Also, as one of the primary sponsors for the Bike MS Southern California’s premier cycling event to raise money for a cure for Multiple Sclerosis, Shelley has donated specialized Globe Vienna Deluxe 3 commuter bicycles.  She is an active supporter of national bike rides for charity,  as well as local community events, ranging from the 3 Harbors Bike Tour,  the Mardi Gras Ride and the Kids Bicycle Safety Rodeo. On occasion, Shelley enjoys her own ride in her 1938 Chevrolet pickup, while advertising the Depot in a local parade.

The Ventura Bike Depot’s cornerstone shop is located by the Ojai Freeway overpass at the end of Main Street between the Ojai and Beach bike paths.  Customers visit regularly from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles County.  This is truly living life in the bike lane!
